Reviews Overview

Most Liked

One of Choy’s biggest draws is undoubtedly the generous portion sizes. Customers leave raving about the ample servings of fish and chips, often enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. The friendly staff receive consistent praise for their warmth and helpfulness, contributing to an overall positive dining experience. Many locals have made this their regular stop, sharing stories of enjoyed meals over many years. The distinct flavor of the hand-cut chips, fried to golden perfection, paired with delicious sauces, like curry sauce, creates a flavor palette that keeps patrons coming back for more. Plus, the cash-only policy adds a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of classic fish and chip shops.

Most Disliked

A common inconvenience mentioned by patrons is the cash-only policy, which can catch first-time visitors off guard. Many reviews express the wish for card payment options. Additionally, while the food quality is outstanding, the popularity of Choy’s often leads to a wait during peak times, especially on weekends. Some customers note that with its popularity, it may be challenging to find a spot during busy hours. Lastly, the queue can be a bit daunting for those short on time, but those willing to wait are usually rewarded with delicious meals.

Extremely fine fish and chips. Fresh Haddock, very decent size portion, hand cut chips fried with love, all cooked to order. You can tell that the team here are passionate about the food and the service. Worth travelling across the city for! Cash only - which is great if you remember.

I don't usually go out of my way to get fish and chips, but my partner wanted some and decided to come to Choys. We're really glad we came here! The food was outstanding, and I really loved how sweet the two employees who served us were. They were incredibly kind and friendly. The prices for the cod, chips, and the pancake rolls were very decent for the area too. I think that it's so important that people support local, family-owned businesses!
